Dental Implants

Dental implants provide a durable anchor for restorations like dentures, crowns, and bridges. During implant surgery, small titanium posts are placed in the jawbone, forming artificial roots for your new teeth, so your bite remains strong and stable. Dental implants can eliminate slippage and other problems some patients experience with other restorative options, like traditional dentures. Dr. Richard Hada is an expert at placing dental implants, and can perform bone grafting for patients with low jawbone density. In addition to traditional implants, we also offer mini dental implants.

Choose Dental Implants for Comfort, Health, and Superior Support

110304806-2 If you need to restore one or more missing teeth, consider treatment with state-of-the-art dental implants. Mission Viejo, CA, dentist Richard K. Hada is an expert performing this surgical procedure, which involves placing tiny, titanium posts in the jaw. During the healing process, the posts fuse with the bone and begin to effectively mimic tooth roots. They then form a stable support system for custom crowns, bridges, or dentures. Truly the next best thing to your own natural teeth, implant-supported restorations look and feel natural and also boost your oral health by aiding bone mass retention. Many dentists refer implant placement out to a specialist, but Dr. Hada conveniently provides start-to-finish dental implant treatment so you do not have to visit multiple offices. Candidates

Most healthy patients who are missing or expect to lose one or more adult teeth are candidates for dental implant treatment. In past years, you needed to have a strong and dense enough jawbone to support the implants. This meant some patients were not good candidates. As the technology evolved, bone grafting became a common and successful procedure that allows many more patients to benefit from implant treatment. Mini implants are another option for patients with low jawbone density, which is often the case when you have been missing teeth for several years. Dr. Hada is experienced with all aspects of dental implant treatment, including bone grafting and mini implants.

The Implant Procedure

If you are found to be a good candidate for dental implants, Dr. Hada will work with you to develop a treatment plan. This will involve determining the type of implant and restoration, as well as the placement of the posts that will achieve the best outcome for you. If you require bone grafting, it will take about six to nine months before you are ready to have the posts placed. Dr. Hada will then surgically implant the posts in your jaw tissue. Over a healing period of several months, they will integrate with your jawbone in a process known as osseointegration. When this is complete, Dr. Hada will perform a second minor surgery to uncover the tops of the posts. He will then attach an abutment and your new dental prosthetic will be permanently placed. Once your gums fully heal, you will enjoy incredible stability where you once had a gap in your smile, or were dealing with the unreliable nature of traditional dentures.

Benefits

In addition to providing the strongest support possible, dental implants offer several other advantages:

  • Dental implants help retain bone mass in the jaw by mimicking tooth roots. The body receives signals to continue sending nutrients to the area, which helps patients avoid the slack or downturned appearance called facial collapse.

  • Compared to a traditional bridge, implant-supported crowns are easier to keep clean, because you can floss all the way around them like natural teeth. The cement that holds a bridge in place does not allow this, and it can also wear away over time and allow bacteria to flourish.
