Faces of amorous young couple laughing with closed eyesDo you have chipped, cracked, or stained teeth? You are not alone, and at Hada Family Dental we can help. For patients wanting to repair imperfect teeth and return the sparkle to their smile, we provide dental bonding to correct minor to moderate imperfections. Compared to porcelain veneers and dental crowns, dental bonding is a conservative and cost-effective cosmetic and restorative procedure that can enhance your smile’s natural aesthetics.

Dr. Richard Hada uses tooth-colored composite resin to lengthen and reshape a tooth, fill gaps between teeth, cover moderate to severe tooth staining or discoloration, and repair chipped teeth. Depending on the type of bonding you need, anesthetic may not be necessary. Because bonding can be accomplished in one office visit, many of our patients find the treatment favorable to other options.

Is Dental Bonding For You?

If you’re unsure whether dental bonding would work for you, you’re in the right place. Some of the more common ways dental bonding can be used include:

  • Repair chipped teeth
  • Create a veneer over discolored teeth
  • Fill gaps between teeth
  • Strengthen weak or worn teeth
  • Reshape teeth for a more contoured look
  • Lengthen a broken or shortened tooth

What to Expect During the Procedure

Before dental bonding is applied, the doctor will share our shade guide with you and help you choose a color that closely matches the natural look of your teeth. At this point, you can opt for teeth whitening, and the new restorations will be made to match your whiter, brighter tooth enamel.

Before applying the custom-shaded composite resin, the dentist will prepare the tooth with a special solution and conditioning liquid to gently roughen the surface. This painless step allows the composite resin to bond and adhere properly to the tooth. Next, Dr. Hada will mold, shape, and smooth the composite resin over the tooth, then use a special curing light to harden and set the material in place. Finally, Dr. Hada will trim any excess resin and polish your tooth for a beautiful and smooth finish. This procedure typically takes about an hour to complete.

Maintaining and Caring for Your Teeth

Although dental bonding provides many advantages, it is not as long lasting as porcelain veneers. For optimal longevity of your new restorations, it is important to:

  • Minimize your intake of dark-colored beverages such as coffee, tea, and red wine
  • Avoid tobacco products
  • Avoid chewing on ice and hard objects, and stop biting your nails
  • Call our office right away if your teeth or bite feel odd
  • Practice good oral hygiene by brushing twice a day, flossing daily, and rinsing with an antibacterial mouth wash
  • Visit Dr. Hada for your dental checkup every six months
